On this, my 396th trip to Haiti, we chose to visit a new church that oversees a school IOCH has just begun to support, the Mount of Olives Institute. On ocasion, even after all this time in Haiti, I still have experiences that shock me and break my heart.
After the service an old man asked me if I could help him start a business so that he could afford to send both his grandchildren to school. I explained that once the school is better supported, hopefully they will be able to work with his circumstance. In the same setting I met a handsome young boy, Anderson, that I recognized from a really special school I visisted several trips ago.
Standing outside the church, I was surprised to see this same old man literally crawling down the church steps. I tried to help him in his wheelchair. Anderson came by and began pushing the very ragged wheelchair across the rocky ground. I requested to take a picture together, then Anderson pushed the man down the hill to his house with the little children behind.

I felt the urge to bless this sweet old man. I gave Richecard some money and he ran after them. Soon after Richecard came back with Anderson racing beside him. While Anderson told me of his excitement to start school again, I also learned that he has taken on himself to walk to church every week to pick up the handicap man at his house, then stay after and walk him home. It also was clear that these two beautiful little children, were fully the responsibility of this sweet man. How he managed to care for them excatly, I can't imagine? I was genuinely inspired by both of them!

I also was touched this morning by a video that Wilson made yesterday while walking outside the house of the handicap child he has befriended in the neighborhood. I pray my heart never grows numb to the suffering in this world that we are called by Christ to minister to.
